The people loved the Precept and Polestar is listening. Thomas Ingenlath, the brand’s CEO, today announced that the concept will pull a Polestar 1 and become a real production car.
“‘Stunning. Spectacular. Cutting-edge. We’d like to see it on the road!’ This is what the press wrote about the Precept and the public said ‘We want it,’ so we decided to build it,” Ingenlath said in a press release today.
The Precept was revealed earlier this year as a “manifesto to illustrate the brand’s future vision.” Besides being a vision into the future of Polestar design, the Precept also showed off the brand’s green ambitions.
One of the concept’s big tricks was its interior. Finished in a range of sustainable materials, it featured recycled PET bottles, reclaimed fishing nets, recycled cork vinyl, a flax-based composite, and much more.
“Consumers want to see change from this industry – not just dreams. Now, Precept becomes an even stronger statement. We are committed to reduce the environmental impact of our cars and our business. The aim has to be climate neutrality, even though I recognize that is a long-term goal.”
Although the production version’s details have not been fully outlined, Polestar has confirmed that it will produce the Precept in China.
“China is a home market for Polestar and we recognize the increasingly important drive for greater sustainability here,” continues Thomas Ingenlath, speaking at the Beijing International Automotive Exhibition 2020. “With this new factory, we will again raise the bar, aiming to produce the most advanced and premium electric car in China with the lowest carbon footprint.”
