Volvo cars are known for being safe in an accident. Thanks to seatbelts, their own crash test center, and countless patents, their reputation is well-earned. But now they want to keep you safe even if there isn’t a calamity.
Volvo is offering premium air-quality technology in its 60 and 90 series cars that helps clean the air in the cabin ahead of a trip. Advanced Air Cleaner technology uses a synthetic fiber-based filter and ionization to keep 95% of all PM 2.5 particles out of the car.
According to the New York State Department of Health, PM 2.5 (particulate matter 2.5) refers to tiny droplets in the air that measure 2.5 microns. In large quantities they can turn the air hazy and are a pollutant that is a concern for people’s health.
Using a sensor that measure to PM 2.5 levels in the cabin and outside, Volvo’s system can even compare how much better the air quality is inside the car.
“With our Advanced Air Cleaner technology, you can rest assured that the air you breathe inside your Volvo is cleaner and healthier,” said Anders Löfvendahl, Senior Technical Expert on Cabin Air Quality at Volvo Cars. “We believe that clean air is good for you, both from a health and from a safety perspective, and we will continue to push the envelope in this area.”
